The candidates are required to obtain following minimum marks separately in Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III as given below:

West Bengal SET 2020 Eligibility Criteria


Master’s Degree in a relevant subject with at least 55% Marks (50% Marks in respect of SC/ST/PH/VH Candidates) or an equivalent grade preceded by at least a Second Class 3-year Bachelor’s degree from an Indian University /institution recognized by UGC or an equivalent degree from a Foreign University. Candidates pursuing Post Graduate courses are also eligible to appear at SET subject to the condition that they must obtain their Post Graduate degree with 55% or 50% marks, whichever is applicable, within two years from the date of holding of the SET.

Note:

1. Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation.

2. The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.

3. For Persons with Disability (Visually Challenged candidates) thirty minutes’ extra time shall be provided separately for paper-I and Paper-II. For paper-III, forty five minutes’ extra time shall be provided. They will also be provided the services of a scribe who would be a graduate in a subject other than that in which the candidate is appearing in SET. Those Persons with Disability (Physically Challenged candidates) who are not in a position to write in their own hand can also avail of these services. All such candidates who are willing and eligible to take the assistance of a scribe must make a prior request (at least three weeks before the date of SET Examination) in writing to the Member Secretary, SET. Extra time and facility of scribe would not be provided to other Persons with Disability (Physically Challenged) candidates.

4. There is no upper age limit for appearing at the SET. However, for the purpose of recruitment, the relevant Government Order will be applicable.


West Bengal SET 2020 Application Form


Candidates are required to apply online application form from the official website . After successfully submission of application form, candidates need to take print out of duly filled application form for future references.

Application Fee:

Registration fee has to be paid through Bank Challan by down loading from  SET website. For further details visit www.wbcsc.ac.in

Rs. 700/-(plus Rs. 40/- as Bank Charge) for General candidates or Rs. 350/- (plus Rs. 40/- as Bank Charge) for SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH Candidates.

The Fee is to be deposited at any Branch of the United Bank of India. Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.


West Bengal SET 2020 Selection Procedure




1. A person who scores 60% or more in the West Bengal-SET examination will be considered ‘West Bengal SET passed’ or ‘West Bengal-SET qualified’. This will be the qualifying marks for all categories.

2. Negative Marks: There shall be no negative marks for the test.


West Bengal SET 2020 Syllabus

All questions of Paper-II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering the entire syllabus (including all electives, without options). Syllabi for all SET subjects can be downloaded from the WBCSC Website www.wbcsc.ac.in or www.examinationonline.in/wbcscportal and are at par with the relevant NET syllabus. WBCSC will not send the syllabus to individual candidates.

Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50). In the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.

Paper-II shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks.

Paper-III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks. All questions of Paper-II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering the entire syllabus (including all electives, without options) for the subject concerned.

The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III on the OMR sheet provided along with the Test Booklet.


West Bengal SET  2020 Hall Ticket

✓ Examination Hall Ticket will be provided online to all candidates 10 days prior to the date of the examination. Candidates have to click the link “Download Examination Hall Ticket”. Provide Registration Number and print the online Examination Hall Ticket.

✓ Candidates have to download and get a printout of the Examination Hall Ticket. It will not be sent to the candidates by post.

✓ Candidate must carry the Examination Hall Ticket and also one additional photo identity such as a Driving License, Voter ID, College/University Identity Card, PAN Card, etc, to the examination center on the day of the examination.

✓ If your Examination Hall Ticket does not display the image of your photograph, you have to paste the photo at the appropriate place and get it attested from a competent authority.

✓ The candidate is not allowed in to the examination hall without the Examination Hall Ticket.

✓ Please confirm that your Name, Subject, Centre, etc, shown in the Examination Hall Ticket arecorrect. If there is any error in the Examination Hall Ticket please contact SET officeimmediately and submit a written application. Otherwise SET Office will not be responsible formaking necessary corrections and will not be responsible for providing benefits or for lossarising out of these to the candidates.

3:- Enter Registration Number in the space provided.
